My job as a postnatal doula is to help create ​a space 
where a mother can embrace the postpartum period ​within her own sanctuary.

​When a baby is born, a mother is too.

The space between the many different stages of life are precious. Becoming a mother can be one of the most unique and exciting experiences. It can also be one of the biggest emotional and physical challenges a woman can navigate, regardless of how many children she has. 

​I am Sam.
I am a post natal doula and I feel passionately about holding a space for mothers and parents, while they give themselves permission to recover and heal, in their own safe, nurturing space, while adjusting to a new family life.

What is a Post Natal Doula?
​
The definition of a doula;  'also known as a birth companion and post-birth supporter, is a nonmedical person who assists a woman before, during, and/or after childbirth, as well as her spouse and/or family, by providing physical assistance and emotional support' - Wikipiedia 

For me, being a post natal doula means empowering and supporting all clients as they take vital time to heal and restore after the birth process.

 Having had experience of both pregnancy, birth alongside health complications, I have learnt a great deal about the importance of self care, rest, recovery, nutrition and the benefits of holistic support. 

 Doula's are a growing army in the Western world, but in countries such as, China, South America and even the Netherlands, having a doula or multiple doula's through labour and post labour, is part of the culture. By training as a post natal doula, I want to help make it part of ours. 

​I have a profile on Doula UK and have completed a range of courses including baby wearing and bone closing massage. I have an active profile on The Luna Hive, co host a post natal support group, The Mother Space, in the Guildford, Godalming and Farnham areas of Surrey as part of a collaboration with Younique Post Natal and I am also a Developing Doula companion to trainee postnatal doulas. 

Every mother needs space to navigate the transition between life before and after their little human arrives earth side, treasuring all the special moments with love, confidence and trust.
